Our Aim is Clear

SLMSC aims to improve the quality of vocational training available to local abattoirs and meat processors by developing a dynamic training course based on the successful Master Meat Circle course developed under the LEADER Programme in Ireland. The overall goal is to enable small abattoirs, butchers and meat processors to add value to their products and services in order to survive, and thrive, in an increasingly competitive market. Specifically, the project establishes 4 objectives, with a clear focus on innovation and target group participation:

  • Gain an in depth understanding of the barriers and issues facing abattoir & local meat processing sector in Europe.
  • Adapt existing training materials and complement with new materials to create a new, multilingual, online training course, The partners propose to produce an e-learning course to be followed over a period of 2-4 months with dynamic user interaction
  • Guarantee the training course’s quality and responsiveness to needs by carrying out a thorough pilot testing process with target group users.
  • Ensure the widespread uptake and use of the training course following its launch by implementing a comprehensive dissemination and valorization plan.  The specific goal of the dissemination plan is to foster stronger links between the abattoir industry and VET institutions so that SLMSC is not a one-off initiative.
